The oaks are the problem, not the distance

Slabs, footings and barn pads on Lutz acreage, from the old town and the railroad out to Keystone and Van Dyke.

A canopy town

Lutz is trees. Live oaks over almost every road, acre and half acre lots that were carved out of woodland rather than cleared for it, and a lot of houses you cannot see from the street.

For a pump that is the whole job. Distance is easy. Overhead clearance is not. A boom that has to unfold has to unfold somewhere, and on a Lutz lot the somewhere is usually a specific gap between two oaks, which is why the operator wants to see the site rather than a satellite photo.

Service drops make it worse, because on older Lutz roads the power comes in overhead across the front of the lot, right where a truck wants to stand.

Old Lutz and the newer end

The two halves of town behave differently. Around the old center and the railroad the housing stock is older, lots are irregular, and the work tends to be replacement: a slab where a carport used to be, a footing for an addition, a pad for a new well house.

Out toward Van Dyke, Keystone and Sunset Lane it is acreage. Barns, workshops, riding arenas, garages that are larger than the house. Bigger pours, longer runs, and driveways that are sand for the last two hundred feet.

Septic, wells and what is under the drive

Most of Lutz is on septic and well rather than city services. That matters when a loaded truck is choosing where to park, because a drain field is not designed to take one, and neither is the lid of a tank that somebody buried thirty years ago and paved over.

Tell us where the tank and the field are. It is the single most useful thing you can know about your own property before a heavy truck arrives.

Man, First time using K&R and these guys do it and do it right. Corey and Chris are top notch pump guys that put it in there right. I will only use this company for now on. If I could give 10 stars I would. I been around concrete a long time and these are model employees that you want to represent your company well.

We had a wonderful experience with the crew from K&R. They showed up 30 minutes early, let us know about an issue with our supplier, and talked us through the entire process. They went above and beyond by helping us (first time DIYers) out, giving us advice and tips, and when it started pouring rain they even helped us hoist up the tarp to get the job done. We are so pleased with the service we received and would highly recommend K&R.

They jumped right in to lend a hand, going above and beyond what they needed to do. I would highly recommend this company. Its super hard to find good workers these days but these guys are it!

Questions

Lutz questions.

Often yes, but it depends on where the gaps are. The boom needs somewhere to unfold and a swing path to the pour. It is worth a look rather than a guess, and photographs from the street and from the pour area help.

Yes, and out here that is a large part of the work. Give us the dimensions, the thickness and what will be driving on it, because the load decides the slab.

No. Lutz is inside our normal service area and the inspection is free there like everywhere else we work.
